DIY Craft Projects – Office Edition!
Conservatively speaking, most full-time working Americans will spend at least 40 hours a week working at a desk. In a lifetime, that adds up to over 90,000 hours spent at a desk! Needless to say, you will spend a lot of time working on a desk or in an area that you call your work area. Because of this, we decided to write an office edition of the weekly DIY Craft Projects post. Presented here are our top 3 desk DIY craft ideas this week.
To start off here is relatively easy DIY Desk Calendar presented by Home Made by Carmona. If you are a big fan of watercolors and ombré (fading color effect), this DIY project might be up your alley. By thoughtfully repurposing a wooden box and gift tags, you can create an exciting desk calendar that you can look forward to changing daily. Carmona recommends practicing the watercolor ombré effect on some practice tags to get the fading out that you desire.
If you’re like us, sometimes our workspace experiences renegade paperwork and clutter that somehow finds its way to disorganizing our work areas. We usually are able to keep it under control before it becomes an eyesore, but it would’ve helped if we had an organization system to keep clutter at bay. Luckily, Curbly has an excellent DIY tutorial on how to make a minimal-style wood desk organizer. Curbly recommends using accenting the organizer with black paint for a modern look, but feel free to choose whatever color you prefer or have on hand.
We all have probably had the post-it phase (for some you might still be in it) where we organize all our thoughts and tasks on post-its. You can imagine what a mess your desk wall or computer monitor might look like with tens of hundreds of these little neon-colored sticky squares surrounding you with all your ideas written down. If you’re looking to minimize or completely rid yourself of post-its, Sugar & Cloth has a cute DIY project on a gold-framed dry-erase board. This way you can easily erase and replace your notes when needed. Sugar & Cloth recommends customizing the dry-erase board however you want
These three DIY desk craft projects are a great way to give your working area a fresh new feel if you feel it starting to get stale or cluttered. Don’t feel constrained either to only upgrading your calendar, organizer, or note-taking system. Get creative and DIY your folders, notebooks, or even your work bag. Show-off those DIY craft skills!
